“It can be a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step into the Road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
J. R. R.Tolkien
My “Road” continues in full sweep, taking me from one career adventure to another. In an era of increased professional specialization, I have followed a more circuitous path. It has given me a broad range of experience, both in scope and depth. As an accountant, I have developed reporting systems that assembled business activity information in a timely and accurate manner. As a classroom/studio instructor, I have developed curriculum in various areas of study for multiple age groups, ranging from preschool to senior adults. As both an executive and Board leader of non-profit organizations, I have experience in all phases of administration and fundraising, including grant writing and prospect development. As a design practitioner, I have applied my creativity through the use of exemplary communication skills and best business practices.
I am competent in both oral and written French, with a working knowledge of Italian. My extended European travels have provided me an insight into cultural differences and the myriad ways they are communicated. My master’s thesis was an extensive review of the semiotics and phenomenology of transparent environments as experienced through the filter of high and post-modernism.
